Day 2 – Chongqing → Wuling Mountain Grand Canyon → 816 Underground Nuclear Base → Wulong
Morning:
After breakfast, drive to visit the Wuling Mountain Grand Canyon (minimum visiting time: 2 hours).
The Wuling Mountain Grand Canyon is renowned for its exceptionally pure air, with negative oxygen ion levels exceeding 100,000 per cubic centimetre. Visitors often describe it as a “natural oxygen bar”. The core scenic area is a pristine karst canyon stretching roughly 10 kilometres. The landscape is grand and imposing: steep cliffs rise like knife‑cut walls, waterfalls plunge from sheer ridges, and winding streams flow through deep, misty valleys. At the canyon floor, unusual rock formations stack upon one another while clear water murmurs between them.
The area brings together mountains, gorges, forests, springs, waterfalls, cliffs, caves, pools, streams, pits and fissures all in one place. Particularly striking are the blade‑thin stone peaks that stretch for kilometres along the cliffs — a rare sight in China — and the dramatic 1,500‑metre‑long ground fissure canyon, twisting and turning in a thrilling, mysterious formation seldom seen anywhere in the world.
Along the shaded walking paths, you’ll encounter one remarkable sight after another: five stone peaks as thin as paper wings rising sharply from the ground, known as Thin Knife Ridge; two cliffs standing face‑to‑face with only a narrow gap between them, with a plank walkway built into the rock and a jade‑green pool below, called Stone Clamp Gate; towering cliffs lined with fine cracks resembling stacked scrolls, named Ten Thousand Volumes of Books; and a massive boulder wedged between cliffs like an armoured warrior, known as General’s Head.
Other scenic highlights include Tathagata’s Palm, Copper Wall and Iron Rampart, Peacock Spreading Its Tail, Five Monkeys Descending the Mountain, Male and Female Giant Apes, Pillar Holding Up the Sky, Crocodile Emerging from Water, General Ba, Laojun Cliff, Crystal Lake, Lamp Pole Rock, Lovers’ Valley, Cliff of Self‑Sacrifice, Sky Thread, and Ten‑Thousand‑Zhang Pit.
As you walk, the scenery changes with every step — countless wonders, endlessly surprising and breathtakingly beautiful.
Lunch: Local countryside farmhouse cuisine.
Afternoon:
Continue to the 816 Underground Nuclear Project (minimum visiting time: 1 hour).
The 816 Underground Nuclear Project, located in Fuling, Chongqing, is a massive military cave complex with a total construction area of 104,000 square metres. It contains 18 large chambers and more than 130 passages, tunnels, auxiliary shafts and corridors. The combined axial length of all tunnels exceeds 20 kilometres. The largest chamber reaches a height of 79.6 metres, with a side‑wall span of 25.2 metres, an arch span of 31.2 metres, and a total area of 13,000 square metres. This extraordinary engineering achievement — described as “a building within a cave, and a cave within a building, with a river running through it” — won a collective award at the 1978 National Science and Technology Conference.
After the visit, continue to Wulong.
Dinner: enjoy a specialty dinner.
Evening:
Free time to explore.
Enjoy dinner followed by the outdoor performance “Impression Wulong”, created by Zhang Yimou and Wang Chaoge. With Zhang Yimou as artistic consultant and Wang Chaoge and Fan Yue as chief directors, the show features more than 100 performers singing live. Centered around the nearly lost traditional “haozi” work chants, the 70‑minute performance immerses the audience in the majestic natural scenery of the heritage site and the unique culture of the Bashu region.
The theatre is located in Taoyuan Grand Canyon in Wulong County, about 9 kilometres from Fairy Mountain Town. The canyon forms a natural U‑shape with a vertical drop of 180 metres, surrounded by mysterious distant peaks and dramatic cliffs. The location not only preserves the ecological environment but also provides an exceptional natural stage. The theatre has around 2,700 seats, with the stage extending into the audience area, creating an intimate, zero‑distance experience between performers and spectators. In this tranquil valley, the long‑lost “haozi” chants are brought back to life.
After the performance, check in to your hotel.

Day 3 – Wulong → Three Natural Bridges → Fairy Mountain → Chongqing
Morning:
After breakfast, visit the Three Natural Bridges (minimum visiting time: 2 hours; includes entrance ticket, mandatory shuttle bus fee of 40 RMB per person, and electric cart fee of 15 RMB per person).
The Three Natural Bridges, also known as the Tianlong, Qinglong and Heilong Bridges, are a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site and an exceptionally rare karst geological wonder. These three magnificent stone arch bridges form the largest natural bridge cluster in Asia. Over hundreds of millions of years, geological movements have shaped this extraordinary landscape. What was once a continuous mountain range was gradually hollowed out by underground rivers. Water carved through the rock, and eventually, the mountain’s interior collapsed. When the dust settled, only these three towering stone bridges—each hundreds of metres high—remained standing.
The Tianlong, Qinglong and Heilong Bridges span dramatically across the giant sinkholes. Standing beneath them, one cannot help but feel humbled by the sheer power of nature. Their breathtaking scale has made this location a filming site for many Chinese and international movies. In Transformers 4, the iconic scene where Optimus Prime tames the Dinobot Grimlock was filmed here, becoming one of the most memorable moments in the series.
These stone bridges reveal the dynamic forces of the Earth: new peaks continue to rise, ancient rocks crumble under the pressure of time, and the cycle of destruction and creation never stops. Here, nature’s power is on full display—eternal, relentless and awe‑inspiring.
Lunch: Tofu specialty dishes.
Afternoon:
Visit the Fairy Mountain National Forest Park (approx. 2 hours; includes entrance ticket and small sightseeing train fee of 25 RMB per person).
Fairy Mountain National Forest Park is a national 5A‑rated scenic area, home to 330,000 mu of pristine forest and 100,000 mu of natural alpine meadow. Its charming highland grasslands, rare southern snowfields, and beautiful forest landscapes have earned it the titles of the “Oriental Switzerland” and the “Number One Pastureland of Southern China”.
At an altitude of 1,800 metres, Fairy Mountain offers an unexpected sight in Chongqing — vast rolling grasslands stretching as far as the eye can see. Ride the small sightseeing train across the meadows, watch horses grazing leisurely, and feel as if you’ve stepped into a Hayao Miyazaki fairytale world. The undulating “wave roads” are perfect for photography, and driving along them even feels like riding a gentle roller coaster.
Stroll through the forest like an elf wandering into a hidden realm, run freely across the grass, lie down to watch the drifting clouds, and enjoy the beauty of the sunset. Fairy Mountain is enchanting in summer and healing in winter — a place that invites you to slow down and breathe. Many visitors say it feels like a giant field of positive energy, capable of washing away all unhappiness.
Return to Chongqing and check in to your hotel.

Day 4 – Kui Xing Tower → Jiefangbei → Chaotianmen → Raffles Sky Bridge → Hongya Cave → Two Rivers Cruise
Morning:
After breakfast, drive to visit Kuixing Tower, a typical representative of Chongqing’s “8D magic city” — known as the “one building with two worlds”, where one end is the 1st floor and the other end becomes the 22nd floor. Then visit the Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street, the main commercial walking area, and Chaotianmen, the zero‑kilometre starting point of Chongqing’s old city.
Continue to Raffles City, where the Sky Corridor sits more than 250 metres above the ground. This open‑air, fully transparent glass platform offers a 270° panoramic view. Surrounded by clouds and greenery, you can overlook the meeting point of the two rivers and the mountain‑city scenery, experiencing the magical 8D charm of Chongqing.
Enjoy the thrilling high‑altitude attractions: the Sky Swing over the river. As a city high‑altitude river‑view swing, it features a two‑person seat as its main highlight. At the top of the city’s clouds, you can feel the heartbeat‑raising excitement. While soaring through the sky, you can also look out over the scenery of Chongqing’s two rivers and four riverbanks.
Lunch: Jianghu‑style cuisine.
Afternoon:
Visit the Huguang Guild Hall, which is composed of three major guild halls — the Yuwang Palace, the Qianjiang Guild Hall, and the Guangdong Guild Hall — all enclosed by high walls. The Chongqing Huguang Guild Hall was first built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty and was continuously renovated and expanded through the Qianlong to Guangxu eras, giving it its present scale. It has a history of nearly 300 years.
At the century‑old theatre stage, enjoy the intangible cultural heritage performance “Drunken Bayu”, which vividly recreates the lively scenes of old Chongqing through Sichuan opera face‑changing, traditional folk arts, and folk dances. Sip tea while watching the show and experience the relaxed and hearty charm of Chongqing’s traditional “Longmenzhen” storytelling culture.
Dinner: Mountain‑city private‑kitchen dishes
Evening:
After dinner, head to Hongya Cave and then take a Two‑Rivers Night Cruise to admire the dazzling night views along the four riverbanks. Afterwards, check in to your hotel for rest.

Day 5 – Yangtze River Cableway → White Elephant Residence → Liziba Monorail → Shancheng Lane → Nanshan Hotpot
Morning:
After breakfast, drive to the Yangtze River Cableway, a new trendy landmark of the Chengdu–Chongqing region. Ride across the Yangtze River — this location has appeared in well‑known films such as Zhou Yu’s Train, Crazy Stone, and Chongqing Blues. The cableway has witnessed the changes of Chongqing over the years and is now one of the must‑visit attractions for tourists.
Continue to Baixiangju, one of the most hidden legendary buildings in Chongqing’s “magic city” landscape. Although it has 24 floors, there is no elevator. A sky corridor connects the middle floors, and the 1st, 10th, and 15th floors each have exits leading to different street levels, creating the unique phenomenon where high floors become multiple ground levels.
Then visit the Liziba Light Rail Station to see Chongqing’s famous “train through the building” — a sight that exists only in this 3D mountain city. Light Rail Line 2 passes directly through a residential building, a spectacular scene created by Chongqing’s complex terrain.
Lunch: Chongqing‑style Sichuan cuisine.
Afternoon:
Head to Shancheng Alley, known as Chongqing’s “architectural museum”. Here you can see old city walls from the early Ming Dynasty, foreign consulates and churches built during the late Qing period, stilted houses, courtyards, air‑raid shelters, and Shikumen‑style buildings from the wartime era, as well as schools and residential buildings from different periods after the founding of New China. The alleys and stairways climb along the cliffs, creating a unique mountain‑city atmosphere.
Experience Chongqing’s leisurely “afternoon tea” — Baba Tea — and enjoy a traditional ear‑cleaning session to relax and unwind.
Dinner: Pipa Garden Hotpot at Nanshan, the world’s largest hotpot restaurant. The entire mountain has been transformed into a hotpot complex, with layers of dining tables spreading across the hillside like a spectacular three‑dimensional painting. At night, colourful lights illuminate the mountain, showcasing the full charm of Chongqing’s 8D magic city. While enjoying authentic Chongqing hotpot, you can also admire the unique mountain‑city night views and feel the warm hospitality of Chongqing people.

Afternoon/Dinner/Evening:
Enjoy the immersive dining performance “Banquet of Ba Kingdom”, featuring traditional
music, dance, theatre and gourmet cuisine. Return to your hotel afterwards.

Through immersive storytelling, it traces the origins of traditional Chinese banquet rituals, offering a spectacular show where the dishes are as impressive as the performance itself — a grand feast that feels like a dialogue with historical figures across the ages.
